Metal Casting Technology

The Level 4 Metal Casting Technology qualification is part of the Competenz general engineering qualifications programme, and provides an opportunity for those who have completed the Level 2 National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering to specialise in metal casting.

Metal casting technology encompasses casting, moulding and patternmaking skills. People who complete this qualification are able to

  • Competently use metal casting, moulding and patternmaking tools
  • Produce patterns, moulds and tooling
  • Produce and finish castings
  • Inspect, test and repair metal castings

Qualified metal casters can expect to earn anywhere between $30,000 – $60,000 depending on their level of experience.

This metal casting qualification leads to the Level 6 National Diploma in Engineering with strands in mechanical engineering, production engineering, and an optional practical endorsement strand.
