Registration application process overview

Step 1

Trainers are required to complete an application form and the associated course documentation.

Step 2

Applications must be posted to:

Competenz, PO Box 9005, Newmarket, Auckland 1149

Attention: Registrar of Forklift Trainers

 

OR couriered to:

Level 5, Office Tower, 277 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland

Step 3

The Registrar will check the application against the criteria specified in the Approved Code of Practice for Forklift Trainers and Operators.

Step 4

When the application is approved Competenz will

  • Forward the application documentation to a Competenz onsite auditor

  • Arrange a mutually agreed time for the Competenz onsite auditor to attend a Forklift operator course for the purpose of auditing the trainer's practical teaching and assessment capabilities.

 

Step 5

The Competenz onsite auditor will

  • Conduct the audit as arranged

  • Provide feedback to the trainer advising them of whether they recommend that the trainer be registered, and of any changes that should be made to their practical teaching and assessment of a Forklift operator course

  • Advise the Registrar of their recommendation.

 

Step 6

The Registrar will evaluate and determine whether to register the trainer, or not.

 

Step 7

If the decision is to register the trainer, the Registrar will

  • Determine the period of registration (usually a period of 1 to 3 years)
  • Register the trainer in the Master Registration File available on the Competenz website
  • Invoice the trainers company for the services provided
  • Request a certificate and personal card be printed and dispatched with a letter of confirmation to the trainer
  • Advise the Department of Labour of the outcome.

 

Step 8

If the decision is to NOT register the trainer, the Registrar will write to the Trainer to advise them of the decision, and to recommend further action.


Fees

For a single trainer from one company the cost is $800 + GST; for more than one trainer from one company there is a reduced per person charge of $600 + GST.*
