Skills4Work and Competenz have agreed that the Accelerator and Premier Apprentice Management Programmes will come under the management of Competenz and the re-established ATNZ (Apprentice Training 2010) Trust from 3 May.

Skills4Work will continue to operate as a Private Training Enterprise (PTE) independent of Competenz. Both organisations are committed to working together where applicable to meet the needs of industry.

What will change?

There will be no change to the service levels or cost of the Accelerator and Premier Apprentice Management Programmes as a result of this move.

Premier apprentices' employment will be transferred to the ATNZ Trust on the same terms and conditions.

Skills4Work and Competenz industry traineeships and the Competenz Base Apprentice Management Programme will not be affected by these changes.

Skills4Work and Competenz are committed to the success of all apprenticeship management and industry traineeship programmes in their current form. The quality of training won't be affected, and any future changes will be focused on further supporting apprentices and trainees to complete their training.

You and your apprentices and trainees will continue to receive the same level of service and care that you do now. If your Competenz or Skills4Work contact person is going to change we will let you know as soon as we can.

Why are Skills4Work and Competenz doing this?

Skills4Work and Competenz agree that these changes will enable both organisations to focus more on their respective industry roles - with Competenz arranging and managing all apprentice training, and Skills4Work focusing solely on the success of the PTE.

What will happen to the Skills4Work PTE - will its operations change?

Skills4Work will continue to operate as a PTE independent of Competenz, and is focusing on creating a competitive edge for New Zealand industry through its training and productivity programmes.
