Just The Job TV series showcases industry careers

The beverage manufacturing industry sector will receive a promotional boost when it comes into focus on the hit careers-advice television show Just the Job later this year. Competenz has partnered with customers DB and Frucor to highlight careers with these companies along with the underpinning training that is relevant to each customer.

We are currently working with both customers and the production company responsible for the show, Dave Mason Productions, to research and plan the filming of each episode.

DB will be promoting a career as a brewery worker in both their packaging (cans and bottling) and brewing areas of the business, with the National Certificate in Food and Related Products Processing qualification (Level 2 - 4) (FRPP) as the training pathway. Filming will take place at DB's Waitemata brewery site in Otahuhu, Auckland this month.

Frucor, the company behind a number of well-known beverage brands including Pepsi and Just Juice, will be promoting their production worker role as a career entry-point, while demonstrating career progression options into team leader or other technical-focused roles within their business. The training pathway for their piece will be Competitive Manufacturing (Level 2 - Level 4), which forms a ‘strategic' part of Frucor's employee training at all levels. Filming for Frucor's episode will commence in late May.

This upcoming series of Just the Job is scheduled to go to air on TV2 from late June, and every high school in New Zealand will receive a DVD featuring all career options from this latest series.

To date Competenz has been involved in two prior seasons of Just the Job to profile other food and beverage related career options, including Craft Baking with Heavens Bakery in Napier, and Maritime Hospitality in partnership with The Interislander.

Just The Job has gone from strength to strength since its launch by Executive Producer Dave Mason three years ago. A television veteran with 31 years experience, Mason conceived Just The Job as an educational medium with which to tackle and answer the perennial teenage question; 'What should I do once I finish school?'

He explains, "What we've produced is intended to support the career tools already available to students through their schools."

The scope of the show and its educational merit is reflected in the received affirmations from not only the participants but also school career counselors like Maree Bunce, Careers Advisor at St Dominics College in Henderson. "It's Kiwi, up to date, relevant, accurate, and interactive - I love it!" raved Maree.
