Competenz is developing strategic training plans to guide future services to the industries we represent - and influence the tertiary sector's approach to industry needs.

Strategic Development General Manager Matt Allfree is leading the consultation with industry groups, using a combination of focus groups, strategic advisory group meetings, research and surveys.

The goal is to create plans for trainees and apprentices that ensure New Zealand continues to build a skilled labour force that meets future demands.

"Our industries are telling us about their predictions for needs in training in the near to medium term," says Matt. "Employers are also telling us about the strengths and weaknesses of the current training courses, and giving us some insight into what will be needed in future."
