People who complete this qualification gain a comprehensive range of specialist locksmithing competencies, covering motor vehicles, safes and other specialist locking systems. All learning is done both on-the-job and via courses at polytechnic (or correspondence) to complete the qualification requirements - this type of learning is what's referred to as your apprenticeship. The core competencies, skills and knowledge covered by this qualification include:
People awarded this qualification are able to safely and effectively apply the specific knowledge, skills and tools required by current industry standards and specifications. Maintaining integrity and ethical practices are 'must' in the locksmithing industry. The elective components of this qualification also allow people to develop other more general skills relevant to this industry, such as computing, communications and basic first aid.
