Making Training Affordable

Significant subsidies are provided to employers to contribute towards the cost of industry training.

Employers must also pay an industry contribution towards the cost of training that employees receive.

Subsidies are often available for one or more of the following;

• Funding for apprentice training, support and mentoring (e.g. Modern Apprenticeship Programmes)

• Resources such as manuals, course material and assessment guides

• Apprentice travel (part of the cost)

• Industry traineeships which feature embedded literacy and numeracy programmes
