New Level 3 and 4 Welding qualifications available now

A growing need for specialist, qualified welders in New Zealand saw Competenz work closely with industry to develop two new national certificates in welding to complement existing mechanical engineering qualifications. The National Certificates in Welding (Levels 3 – 4) are now available to NZ industry to actively train and retain their own specialist welders. The underpinning knowledge and skills covered in these qualifications include welding safety, measurement, use of hand and power tools, sketching and reading engineering drawings, plus welding theory for steel, stainless steel and aluminium and weld quality assurance. The Level 3 qualification covers the practical welding skills cover joining of steel, stainless steel, and aluminium using manual metal arc welding (MMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW or MIG), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW or TIG), and cutting metals using manual processes. Learners who complete the Level 4 qualification will be competent welders to national and international industry standards and codes, and able to exercise a full range of practical welding techniques with steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and pipe welding.
