About the Employer

Mō Te Kaitukumahi 

Taranakipine is a leading manufacturer of value-added, engineered wood products for national and offshore markets. The Maintenance Department’s goal is to ensure all company plant and machinery is maintained and improved for optimal performance. You will be part of a team responsible for undertaking scheduled preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance work for our three work sites. You may also be required to assist in the installation of new plant.


About the Opportunity

Mō Te Huarahi  

In this traineeship you’ll operate the kilns and boiler systems and take part in some maintenance activities.

As a trainee the company will support you -

  • To achieve a New Zealand Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing(Level 3 and 4) and New Zealand Certificate in Energy & Chemical Operations(Level 3) with strand in Boiler Operations - approx. 4 years. Be prepared to be bonded to Tarankipine for a period of time after completion of your qualifications.
  • To complete a combination of off-job and on-job training and assessment. (Includes 8,000 hours of practical experience)


About You


You must have a passion for a wood drying and boiler operation career!  You will also need -

  • A good work history (reliability/timekeeping)
  • A Forklift license (to be gained within first 6 months)
  • A good attitude and willingness to maximise kiln throughput
  • To ensure that the highest standards of quality control, safety and environment practices are maintained.


Ngā Hāora  

Hours will be discussed with you at interview with Taranakipine.  You will join a 24/7 team that operates a 4 x 4 shift roster.
