About the Opportunity

Mō Te Huarahi  

Visy Glass in Penrose, is currently seeking a Mechanical Apprentice to join the team on a full-time permanent basis.

The role of the Apprentice is diverse and varied; you will start your morning off as part of a small, specialised team working on the Glass Forming Machines, and here you will change out the Mould Equipment to suit the next job for production. You will then rotate around the 3 Workshops throughout the day. During your 4-year Apprenticeship, you will learn all aspects of the Glass Bottle Industry.

About You          


As an Apprentice you will have a passion for glass, have a great work ethic, and take real pride in your work. This role will support you long term, with a career in Engineering as a Trade.  You will also need -

  • A willingness to learn
  • A can-do attitude
  • Problem solving skills
  • To be comfortable working atheights
  • A good level of physical fitness
  • To be a team player
  • Drivers Licence not required for this role – but you will need to be able to get to work on time every day



Ngā Hāora  

Hours will be discussed with you at interview with Visy.  Standard hours are, Monday to Friday 7am to 3.30pm.


Te Tohu  

New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering(Trade) (Level 4) with strands in Fitting and Machining and Machining
