About the Opportunity

Mō Te Huarahi  

You will be learning paint finishing(mainly spray painting) on a number of different substrates. The work is very varied including the type of items that are sprayed and the substrates that you will be working with.  The training will be provided by the spray shop manager.

 

About You

You’ll need to bring a passion for spray painting to this opportunity, enjoy lots of variety and be a great team player, you’ll also need–

 

  • A great attitude and work ethic
  • A keenness to learn
  • To be flexible and willing to work longer hours at short notice
  • A Restricted Driving Licence or working towards gaining a Restricted Licence

Hours    

Ngā Hāora  

Hours will be discussed with you at interview stage with Datum.  Standard hours are 7am-4.30pm (Early finish at 3.15pm on a Friday).  Some flexibility required for overtime when required.  Pay rate is time and a half when over 50 hours in the week. 

 

Qualification

Te Tohu  

New Zealand Certificate in Furniture (Level 4) with strand in Furniture Finishing

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of hazard and risk management, quality requirements, and customer service to operate in a furniture manufacturing environment
  • Implement specific aspects of operational management that impact on the profitability, process improvement, or productivity of a furniture making business.
  • Graduates of the Furniture Finishing strand will also be able to:
  • Cost out furniture finishing jobs.
  • Set up and maintain finishing product spray equipment and finish furniture.
  • Prepare for and use specialist techniques to finish furniture in order to meet customer and production requirements.
