Nomination forms went out to the industry today acknowledging the start of the Eastland Wood Council Forestry Awards for 2015. This is the sixth campaign since the inaugural competition began in 2010 and the event has grown from an attendance of two hundred guests at the Awards Dinner, to over four hundred at last year's event.
The industry sees the event as imperative in recognising the skill base of the forestry industry and the importance of training and meeting industry standards. The event has perpetuated a united sector on the East Coast and contractors, forest companies and service providers alike attend to celebrate this significant industry in our community.
The competition selects a number of training excellence categories, skilled professional excellence awards and industry excellence trophies. The overall leader in their field of expertise, demonstrating excellence in professional skills, attitude and attributes are recognised by their peers and employers to take the top gong - Eastland Wood Council Skilled Professional of the Year.
The council has had another outstanding return of sponsors who continue to support this event each year and as well have taken on board a couple of new sponsors to assist with maintaining a highly professional event for all to participate in and enjoy.
The Awards Dinner will be held 15 May, 2015 at Farmers Air Showgrounds Event Centre and entertaining celebrity Pio Terei will return for the second year as master of ceremony.
