Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of the physical characteristics of wood to ensure timber product quality.
Graduates of the Timber Grading strand will also to:
- Apply knowledge of timber grading, defects and processes to a timber grading operation.
- Apply knowledge of technical aspects of timber grading and operational skills to a timber grading operation.
