Mechanical engineering/ fabrication apprentice

Wellington

I am a motivated Year 13 student at Kuranui College in the Wairarapa, looking for an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, particularly in metal forming and casting or welding and fabrication. I am a practical and hands-on person who enjoys learning how things are made, and how machinery and materials work together. I am keen to develop skills across all aspects of working with metal and am looking to learn from people in the industry. Outside of school, I have a strong interest in medieval sword fighting, which has developed my interest in metalworking, forging and armour making. One of my long-term goals is to learn the skills needed to make my own swords and armour. I am reliable, willing to learn and prepared to start at the ground level to work hard and develop my skills. I am looking for an employer who is willing to give a keen young person the opportunity to learn the trade and build a long-term career. I would love to meet with an employer and discuss how I could contribute as an apprentice whilst developing my skills in this field.
