Celebrating Success at Competenz Graduation

On 18 September, Competenz hosted our first Graduation Ceremony at Sorrento in the Park, Auckland. The event brought together 170 guests to celebrate the achievements of 38 learners who had successfully completed their apprenticeships and qualifications.

Learners took the stage in front of proud whānau, employers, and training advisors, marking a significant milestone in their career journeys. Guests were welcomed with canapés and heard inspiring speeches from industry leaders Lance Fry (McAlpine Hussmann), Vishal Nand (Excel Refrigeration and Air Conditioning), and Dion Orbell (Buckley Systems), who shared words of encouragement and highlighted the value of apprenticeships in shaping the future of their industries.

The evening also featured a lively photo booth and plenty of smiles as learners celebrated not just their individual success, but also the support and guidance they’ve received from workplaces, whānau, and training advisors along the way.

Toni Christie, General Manager, Employer and Learner Experience, reflected on the experience:
